The Storage Manager's latest allocation outlook for August to November 2021 is now available.
The latest seasonal allocations for July 2021 have been announced by the Storage Manager. This is the first allocation announcement of the 2021-22 year.
Sufficient inflow was received to reservoirs during June to secure all headworks system operating water requirements for the 2021-22 season. However, further inflow is required before any allocation can be made to entitlements. Operating water is used to meet system losses such as evaporation from reservoirs.
While no allocation has been possible to any entitlement at the time of the July 2021 water resource assessment, bulk entitlement holders collectively have access to approximately 108,000 ML of unused water allocation carried forward from 2020-21 year.
A July update on reservoir operations is also now available.
The Storage Manager has conducted an assessment of the risk of spill for the system headworks, as per the methodology defined in the Storage Management Rules. The results of this assessment have enabled the Storage Manager to declare a low risk of spill for the 2020-21 water year as of 1 July 2021.
The latest seasonal allocations for June 2021 have been announced by the Storage Manager. This is the final allocation announcement for the 2020-21 water year.
Inflow to reservoirs during May remained well below average. However, evaporation losses were again slightly lower than the Storage Manager’s conservative estimates, resulting in a small resource improvement. This has enabled a further 1.9 gigalitres to be allocated to the System Reserve, bringing the total volume in the System Reserve to 4.2 gigalitres. Bulk entitlement rules require a total of 15 gigalitres to be allocated to the System Reserve once Wimmera-Mallee Pipeline Product entitlements reach 57% allocation.
Wimmera-Mallee Pipeline Product allocations remain unchanged at 57% and Glenelg River Compensation Flow entitlement remains at 1% allocation. No allocation has been possible to Recreation, Wetlands or Commonwealth Environmental entitlements.

Inflow to reservoirs during March remained well below average. However, evaporation losses were slightly lower than the Storage Manager’s conservative estimates, resulting in a small resource improvement. This has enabled 1 Gigalitre to be allocated to the System Reserve. Bulk entitlement rules require a total of 15 Gigalitres to be allocated to the System Reserve once Wimmera-Mallee Pipeline Product entitlements reach 57% allocation.

Inflow to reservoirs during February remained well below average. However, evaporation losses were slightly lower than the Storage Manager’s conservative estimates, resulting in a small resource improvement. This has enabled a 1% increase to Wimmera-Mallee Pipeline product allocations, from 56% to 57% this month.
Glenelg River Compensation Flow entitlement remains at 1% allocation. No allocation has been possible to Recreation, Wetlands or Commonwealth Environmental entitlements.
Recreational water users are advised to avoid direct contact with water following the detection of elevated blue-green algae levels.
