The latest seasonal allocation for July 2020 have been announced by the Storage Manager. This is the first allocation announcement of the 2020-21 year.
Around 6,560 ML of inflow was received to reservoirs during June; however, further inflows are required to secure all headworks system operating water requirement for the 2020 season, before any allocation can be made to entitlements. Operating water is used to meet system losses such as evaporation from reservoirs.
No allocation has been possible to any entitlement at the time of the July 2020 water resource assessment. However, bulk entitlement holders collectively have access to approximately 104,000 ML of unused water allocation carried forward from 2019-20 year.
The Storage Manager has conducted an assessment of the risk of spill for the system headworks, as per the methodology defined in the Storage Management Rules. The results of this assessment have enabled the Storage Manager to declare a low risk of spill for the 2020-21 water year as of 3 July 2020.
A July update on Reservoir operations is also now available.
The latest seasonal allocations for June 2020 have been announced by the Storage Manager. These respresent the final water allocaitons for the 2019-20 water year.
In response to well below average inflow to reservoirs during the 2019-20 season, bulk entitlement holders have collectively agreed that resource improvements during May and June 2020 be held over to help secure system operating water and support allocations in the 2020-21 season. As a result, there has been no increase to allocations this month.
Wimmera-Mallee Pipeline Product remains at 52% allocation this month, and Glenelg Compensation Flow remains at 1% allocation. No allocation has been possible to Recreation entitlement, Wetland entitlement or Commonwealth environmental entitlement this season.
A June update on Reservoir operations is also now available.
Allocations for May 2020 have been announced by the Storage Manager.
Around 500 ML of inflow was recorded during April; the first inflows observed to reservoirs for six months.
In response to well below average inflow to reservoirs during the 2019-20 season, bulk entitlement holders have collectively agreed that resource improvements during May and June be held over to help secure system operating water and support allocations in the 2020-21 season. As a result, no increase in allocation has occurred this month.
Wimmera-Mallee Pipeline Product remains at 52% allocation this month, and Glenelg Compensation Flow remains at 1% allocation. No allocation has been possible to Recreation entitlement, Wetland entitlement or Commonwealth environmental entitlement this season.

The Storage Manager has released the fourth quarterly operating plan supplement for April to June 2020. This supplement accompanies the Annual Operating Plan and looks specifically at reservoir system operation over the upcoming 3-month period. The Annual Operating Plan and all operating plan supplements are available here.
Allocations for April 2020 have been announced by the Storage Manager.
No measurable inflows were recorded to reservoirs during March, and observed evaporation losses from reservoirs equalled the Storage Manager’s projections. As a result, no increase to allocations has been possible with the April 2020 water resource assessment. Wimmera-Mallee Pipeline Product allocation remains at 42%, and Glenelg River Compensation Flow remains at 1% allocation. No allocation has yet been possible to Recreation entitlement, Wetland entitlement or Commonwealth environmental entitlement.
An April update on reservoir operations is also now available.
The latest seasonal allocation for March2020 have been announced by the Storage Manager.
Rainfall and mild daytime temperatures during February resulted in evaporation losses from reservoirs being lower than forecast. This has provided sufficient water to increase Wimmera-Mallee Pipeline Product allocation from 40% to 42%. Glenelg River Compensation Flow remains at 1% allocation. No allocation has yet been possible to Recreation entitlement, Wetland entitlement or Commonwealth environmental entitlement.
A March update on Reservoir operations is also now available.
The latest seasonal allocation for February 2020 have been announced by the Storage Manager.
Despite good rainfall late in January, no measurable inflow was received to reservoirs from their catchments. However, rainfall received directly on reservoirs provided a small boost to volumes in storage. This rainfall has provided sufficient water to increase Wimmera-Mallee Pipeline Product allocation from 36% to 40%. Glenelg River Compensation Flow remains at 1% allocation. No allocation has yet been possible to Recreation entitlement, Wetland entitlement or Commonwealth environmental entitlement.
A February update on Reservoir operations is also now available.
The Storage Manager has released its third quarterly operating plan supplement for January to March 2020. This supplement accompanies the Annual Operating Plan and looks specifically at reservoir system operation over the upcoming 3-month period. The Annual Operating Plan and operating plan supplements are available here.
The latest seasonal allocation for January 2020 have been announced by the Storage Manager.
No measurable inflow was received to reservoirs for a second consecutive month in December. Persistent hot weather over recent weeks has resulted in very high evaporation losses from reservoirs. As a result, there has not been any increase in the volume of water available for allocation. Allocations remain unchanged this month, with Wimmera-Mallee Pipeline Product remaining at 36% allocation and Glenelg River Compensation Flow remaining at 1% allocation. No allocation has yet been possible to Recreation entitlement, Wetland entitlement or Commonwealth environmental entitlement.
The latest seasonal allocation for December 2019 have been announced by the Storage Manager.
No measurable inflow was received to reservoirs during November. Mild day time temperatures during much of November resulted in reservoir evaporation losses being slightly lower than forecast, with the savings able to be directed to increasing allocations. This has enabled Wimmera-Mallee Pipeline Product allocation to increase by 1% this month to have a 36% allocation. Glenelg River Compensation Flow remains at 1% allocation. No allocation has yet been possible to Recreation entitlement, Wetland entitlement or Commonwealth environmental entitlement.
A November update on Reservoir operations is also now available.
