The water is safe for drinking. It is filtered and disinfected to meet the strict guidelines for safe drinking water. It can be used for drinking, cooking, making ice, cleaning your teeth and for showering or bathing.

Water supply

Your water comes from the Grampians Headworks Storages. The "headworks" is the area in and around the Grampians ranges and Wimmera River. It includes 11 reservoirs and diversion weirs and the streams and channels connecting them.

GWMWater maintains the infrastructure of the headworks, while the independent Storage Manager manages the water resources.

Your water is piped to St Arnaud through the Wimmera Mallee Pipeline (Supply System 4). The Wimmera Mallee Pipeline replaced 17,500 km of inefficient channels to ensure a more secure and healthy water supply for the region. It supplies water to approximately 9,000 farms and 34 townships.

Your drinking water is treated at the St Arnaud Water Treatment Plant and piped to Donald.
