Safe to drink? No The water is not safe for drinking. However, you can still use this water for household activities, such as watering gardens, flushing toilets, irrigation and laundry. You can also use it for showering or bathing, as long as you're careful to avoid swallowing the water. Read more about living with an untreated water supply here. |
Water supplyYour water comes from the Grampians Headworks Storages. The "headworks" is the area in and around the Grampians ranges and Wimmera River. It includes 11 reservoirs and diversion weirs and the streams and channels connecting them. GWMWater maintains the infrastructure of the headworks, while the independent Storage Manager manages the water resources. Your water is piped to you through the Wimmera Mallee Pipeline (Supply System 2). The Wimmera Mallee Pipeline replaced 17,500 km of inefficient channels to ensure a more secure and healthy water supply for the region. It supplies water to approximately 9,000 farms and 34 townships. |
