Current water restrictions |
Safe to drink? No The water is not safe for drinking. However, you can still use this water for household activities, such as watering gardens, flushing toilets, irrigation and laundry. You can also use it for showering or bathing, as long as you're careful to avoid swallowing the water. Read more about living with an untreated water supply here. |
Water supplyYour water comes from the Murray River from four pumping stations at Swan Hill, Piangil, Nyah and Liparoo. The Northern Mallee Pipeline is a 3,650 kilometre pipeline covering an area of 890,000 hectares. It was completed in 2004 to replace the old, inefficient channel system in the area to provide a more secure and healthier water supply. |
